It’s the merriest tradition as ABS-CBN marks the holiday season with “Shine Kapamilya: The ABS-CBN Christmas Special” held at the Araneta Coliseum.
As the network’s biggest celebrities took the time to delight fans, viewers, advertisers, and partners with breathtaking and impressive production numbers, the fans also showed up with all the energy they’ve got to show support for their favorite stars. Among the fandoms that cheered on the stars included Blooms (BINI fans), Little Ponies (Vice Ganda fans), and supporters of Kathryn Bernardo, DonBelle, Daniel Padilla, KimPau, KDLex, KyleDrea, FranSeth, Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11 Big 4 fans and more
he powerful combination of the stars’ wattage and the loud cheers and support of various celebrity fandoms created a formidable force of connection and showmanship at the Big Dome.
The event opened with the Nation’s Girl Group and this year’s breakthrough stars, BINI, singing “Kapit Lang,” a song the group uses for their advocacy of supporting the deaf community. In the latter part of the song, actresses like Dimples Romana, Angel Aquino, Mylene Dizon, Jolina Magdangal-Escueta, Nikki Valdez, Kaila Estrada, Agit Isidro, and Iza Calzado joined BINI in doing sign language onstage.
BINI continued to sing and dance to their hit songs like “Pantropiko” and “Salamin, Salamin.” This was followed by performances by Maki, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, Piolo Pascual and Jericho Rosales, Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto, Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11‘s Big 4 (Fyang Smith, Rain Celmar, Kolette Madelo, and Kai Montinola), James Reid and Darren Espanto, Anne Curtis, Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, Kathryn Bernardo, and Vice Ganda and Bruno Mars Kalokalike.
Next were the appearances of the ABS-CBN’s industry legends Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Sharon Cuneta, and Bamboo. A dance showdown led by Maja Salvador and the Streetboys then shone onstage. In between this segment, BGYO performed their song “Gigil” and TikToker Ralp Xyrel Villaruz made a special appearance with his viral “Maybe This Time” dance.
Pinoy rock icon Bamboo and Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo’s powerful onstage collab was next in the Christmas event’s stellar program lineup, followed by the performances of Martin Nievera and Morissette Amon, Yeng Constantino and KZ Tandingan, Kyle Echarri and Ez Mil, and Moira deal Torre and Darren Espanto.
The ABS-CBN Christmas Special also dedicated a segment showcasing the fun and playful chemistry among the It’s Showtime hosts as it marks its 15th year in the industry.
The well-lovedJaneNella (“Darna” Jane de Leon and “Valentina” Janella Salvador) duo made a comeback for a dance number; Jane Oineza, Chie Filomeno, Loisa Andalio, and Anji Salvacion later joined them.
Highlights of the over five-hour show also included the kilig-inducing number featuring the Kapamilya network’s real-life couples and top tandems singing romantic duets with KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde (who performed the song “Palagi,” the theme song of the global blockbuster film Hello, Love, Again), Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, Jericho Rosales and Janine Gutierrez, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, Jane Oineza and RK Bagatsing, Jake Cuenca and Chie Filomeno, Kaori Oinuma and Jeremiah Lisbo, KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad, and Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin. Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11‘s Fyang Smith, Jarren Garcia, JM Ibarra, and Jas Dudley-Scales also joined the segment.
Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo was also present, performing the season-appropriate song “Star Ng Pasko.”
The “Shine Kapamilya: The ABS-CBN Christmas Special 2024” Part 1 concluded with a medley of inspiring song numbers, which the Kapamilya stars performed wearing the 2024 ABS-CBN Christmas shirts.
